Earth Matter, Inc. launched its composting program on Governors Island in collaboration with the Added Value farm and Band of Bicycles during City of Water Day, July 18th, 2009. We collected and carted food scraps to the farm by Xtracycle, and surfed the back of the Radishes on the car-free island on the return journey. After a long day of compost collection, we graced the far fields of the island with our joyful camp, but not before busting some moves at the Water Taxi Beach and smuggling 20+ people from Kaleidoscope in to join our slumber party.
